  1. Clan of Xymox spent the two years following ''Notes from the Underground'' to work on their next record, ''Farewell.'' Being the latest in the legacy of the Clan of Xymox, their album yields club-friendly songs sitting comfortably along side moody atmospheric tracks to create a hybrid which can only remotely be described as dark goth/electro/5(33).

  2. Apr 05,  · April 5, Though Clan of Xymox have been around for quite a while, their 80's material was more geared towards gothic synthpop/new wave a la Cure. On Farewell, they take it a step further, evolving in order to keep up with the sounds of electronic music today. The end result is a brilliant combination of gothic synthpop with EBM/5(29).

  3. Clan Of Xymox is best described as a blend of old style goth rock with modern elements of ebm/darkwave added. The result is a highly listenable symphony of varied instruments that is dark, upbeat, and yet melancholy at the same time. Their latest release, Farewell, showcases a bit more beat driven electronic music than their past albums/5(31).

  6. Clan of Xymox never achieved the commercial success of Cocteau Twins or the critical success of Dead Can Dance, but unlike both of those bands, they're still making records. Their fourth album for the Metropolis label, Farewell, finds them continuing in a musical vein that the press materials describe, quite aptly, as dark goth electro.
